“Good Day”
More fun with GearBox's "Analog Delay w/ Modulation" effect simulation. I recorded this Monday night, and Monday was a very good day, hence the title:

I used my trusty '85 Fender Jazz Bass Special, sporting a brand new set of Hartke HSB 440 strings (new strings always make me want to play my bass).

Very cool. I love how the delays gradually build up a bass rhythm combined with the AM radio-like modulation whistle.
So did you only have to play the double stops once, and then it took over?

Thanks, Thomas. I wasn’t sure that I liked this one as much as the previous one, but it’s growing on me. Thanks for the feedback.

Ah, to your question. No, actually. Since the delay time isn’t all that long, I play the chords (it’s two triple-stops: each has one note + two harmonics), then riff for a few measures, then hit the chord again. And I just keep going back and forth like that throughout the track. Later on, the chords get replaced by some big slides, but then they return at the end.
With those settings, I get about eight usable repeats before things fade into the background.
What would really be cool would be some way to switch (via a momentary pedal) between routing through the effect and routing around it. Then I could decide, on the fly, what gets added to the loop and what doesn’t.
I guess I can more-or-less do that with the Boomerang’s “stack” feature. But what I want is really the reverse of that: by default, I want everything to become part of the loop. I’d only occasionally want to add some burst of notes that doesn’t need to be looped.

Oh, okay. That’s what I meant–play them once per bar, not once total.
I’m surprised there’s not an eternal loop mode on the Boomerang. You can do that on the DL-6, by setting the loop mix/feedback fairly low and then just setting the endpoint. But it gets messy fast–I suspect you’re better off with the delays.
The kind of routing you’re talking about is the reason I keep a Boss LS-2 around, but it’s toggle and not momentary. I don’t know if it would be worth checking out.

Right, in this particular case, it works out to once every two bars, but it’s the same concept.
You could do something similar with the ‘Rang. With it, you set up the loop and then use the “stack” (momentary) button to add to it.
The Boss LS-2 might be just the thing. Thanks for mentioning that.
