Composition/Recording Notes

Soundcheck is true to it’s name: it’s a track I recorded to make sure my recording setup was working properly. I used a jazz drum loop and recorded one bass playing mostly a rhythm part. But, toward the end, I got bored with it and started improvising a bit. Then I recorded a second bass playing in tandem with the first and improvising. Each bass was recorded in one pass. There were no overdubs or fixes. I like the interplay between the two basses. I tried to make it sound like two musicians jamming together and trading ideas back and forth. I didn’t intend to release it at first, but I’ve grown to like it, so it will probably be on the first album.
